Quality & Service           • Tinsley Wire Sheffield is registered by BSI Quality Assurance to both BS EN ISO 9002 and Environmental standard BS EN ISO 14001. The company is approved to the Defence Standard DEF STAN 05 - 92 and Ministry of Defence NATO Standard AQAP-4. It also has "Investors in People" accreditation. • The Betafence Fencing Systems plant at Wigan is approved by Cares to BS EN ISO 9002 and many of its products are BBA certified. The company is currently working towards the latest BS EN ISO 9001 standard accreditation. • The wire used for Betafence fencing products is manufactured to European recognised standards. The wire tolerances comply with BS EN 10218 - 2: 1997 and any material used for external applications can be supplied Zinc or 'BEZINAL' Zinc/Aluminium coated in accordance with BS EN 10244 - 2: 2001. • Most products are available with a polyester coating. Innovation           • The process of innovation is deeply embedded within the Betafence organisation. Almost 400 new ideas were generated in 2001, compared with 320 in 2000. More than 10% of these ideas were taken up and explored in greater depth last year. • The Betafence intranet innovations system continues to play a crucial role in this process and was used by several other companies as a benchmark in 2001. • The projec-based evaluation of promising new ideas has been given a more defined structure in the form of 'venture teams'. Ten of these teams were set up in 2001 to carry out initial feasibility studies of these ideas, at technology and market level, within a limited budget and fixed time limit. • These teams are also performing a valuable function as a channel through which technologists can learn to think and act in a more market-orientated and application-driven way.
